Ideal Weight Calculator

Calculate your ideal body weight using four established medical formulas: Devine, Robinson, Miller, and Hamwi. Get a realistic weight range based on your height and gender.

About These Formulas

All four formulas estimate ideal weight based on height. They were developed between the 1960s and 1980s for clinical use — primarily to calculate drug dosages. The Devine formula (1974) is the most widely used in hospitals. Robinson and Miller came later with refinements based on larger datasets.

None of these account for muscle mass, frame size, or body composition. A naturally broad-shouldered person will have a different "ideal" than someone with a smaller frame, even at the same height. Think of these numbers as a starting point, not a verdict.

What "Ideal" Actually Means

In this context, "ideal" means the weight associated with the lowest mortality risk in population studies — not aesthetic ideals. Your personal ideal depends on many factors. For more context, pair this with your BMI and body fat percentage.
